Exhibited as part of Bank Street Arts 'Out of Context' in August 2013 the work 'Lost Memories' is inspired by photographs I took after I lost contact with one of my old neighbour after he suffered a stoke. My neighbour had been really proud of his garden which was destroyed by workmen after he moved to a nursing home. My aim was to achieve a tender/cherished installation piece without the context of my relationship with my lost neighbour. I contrasted my images next to pressed flowers to try to express the destroyed beauty of the lost garden. I’m used a glass cabinets to recreate the feel of a display cabinet from a family home to clash with the photographs, elevating the images of rubbish to treasured mementos.
